About

About Family First Midwifery

Bridget Wojtowich is a Certified Professional Midwife recognized by the North American Registry of Midwives. She is licensed to practice in Louisiana and Texas. Bridget completed a 4 year educational program through the Association of Texas Midwives while training under the supervision of Midwife Jackie Griggs at the Birth Center of Beaumont.

A note from the midwife:

After a difficult hospital birth I knew there had to be a better way to experience birth. While anticipating the birth of my second, I learned all I could about birth. I had a nagging sense of dread with each OB appointment. During my third trimester I found a midwife. My fears shifted to feelings of peace. Two years after the birth, my love of midwifery and the joy surrounding it remained. I was able to learn from the experience and knowledge of the same midwives that cared for me as a mother. I could not be more grateful for each opportunity I get to help families grow stronger and closer together.

Services

Prenatal Care

Prenatal care includes comprehensive visits in the comfort of your home. The health of both mother and baby are monitored through regular physical assessments, ultrasounds, and lab work. The midwife provides information to help the family make informed decisions about care. Visits are usually around an hour long and  allow time for assessment, education, support, and collaboration.

Labor and Birth Support

When active labor begins, the midwife will provide continuous support and monitoring. Birth usually unfolds normally on its own without intervention. The midwife is there to help if needed. She is not the star of the show nor does she hold any authority above the mother. A nurturing and comfortable environment is maintained throughout.

Postpartum Care

Postpartum care focuses on the physical and emotional well-being of the mother and newborn. The midwife provides guidance and support to ease the transition into parenthood. This includes home visits 2 days, 2 weeks, 4 weeks, and 6 weeks after birth.
